About PATA Norway

PATA’s principal aim is to promote tourism and travel to these areas and to increase the travel trade’s knowledge of the world’s fastest growing tourist market. Simultaneously PATA strives to find and maintain a balance between the promotion of economic growth through tourism and to preserving the nature and cultural identity of the region.

PATAs international members
Over 100 national and local tourist organisations, 55 airlines and cruise companies, and several thousand participants in the travel trade are members of PATA. The main organisation has its base in Bangkok and issues publications informing members about events occurring in the PATA region. International workshops, fairs and other relevant activities are all organised from there. For those with an interest in the PATA regions see www.pata.org PATA’s official web site.

PATA Chapters
The organisation’s interests are otherwise maintained by the increasing amount of local member associations spread around the whole world, namely PATA Chapters. The Norway Chapter is one of over 43 chapters with a total of over 17,000 members in the travel trade. In addition to the Nordic countries, most countries in Europe also participate in PATA. The Nordic countries in particular but the other European associations also, co-operate closely and exchange knowledge on issues of common interest.

PATA Norway Chapter
The Chapter was established in 1992 and today has a total of 150 members amongst the country’s travel agents, tour operators, airlines and national tourist offices. Its aim is to offer all members important and relevant information about the PATA countries, on development, trends, investments, education, research and marketing in the region.

Nordic Chapters
Denmark, Sweden and Finland each have their own chapter. The Scandinavian chapters do work across the boarders, arranging study trips and annual meetings. If you are interested in finding out more about them and their activities please visit their individual web sites:

Membership in PATA Norway

PATA Norway is a network for companies in the travel trade that work with Asia and the Pacific Region as a travel destination. PATA is a “non-profit” organisation that first and foremost works with companies in the travel trade that sell travel to Asia and the Pacific Region. PATA Norway Chapter’s member companies include travel agents, tour operators, airlines, tourist offices and more. The most important tasks for PATA Norway   is to educate the different companies in the travel trade, encourage contact and relations between those in the branch, and to also provide information regarding the PATA Region.

For the traveling public, this means that PATA’s branches contribute with useful information directly to the consumer and they help further knowledge of the Asian and Pacific Region among the travel trade.

The key issues for PATA, are to further the competence of companies in the travel trade, increase general knowledge of what the area has to offer and to encourage a development in tourism in this area. For us as an organisation it is extremely important that as many people as possible get to know about this fascinating area and at the same time travellers increase their knowledge of and respect for the local culture.
